I would understand if almost everyone working here in the UAE is feeling happy/excited nowadays. Why not? When we have this very long holiday next week because of Eid Al Adha. Actually, I have no idea what is this all about considering I've been working here for almost 5 years now. All I know is that this is our longest holiday, next to the Eid Al Fitr (end of Ramadan). How very ungrateful of me.

And so today with the help of my very dependable friend named 'google', i made an effort to atleast try to have a general idea about it. And surprisingly, here's what i found out:

1) Eid Al Adha is also called a Festival of Sacrifice or Sacrifice Feast
2) it is a commemoration of Ibrahim's (Abraham's) willingness to sacrifice his eldest son Ishmael in obedience to a command from Allah. (i also know this story as a Roman Catholic. grab my Bible and there I found the verses in Genesis 22: 1-24)
3) it marks the end of the Pilgrimage (Hajj) to sundown, and ask God for forgiveness
